RAIN!

Our first real rain in a very long time. We've had 3 years of drought. We're in between pulses right now, heavy rain this am and more on tap for the afternoon. This is unusually heavy for us this time of year, but we'll take it. Also it seems like most of the good storms the last couple of years have been at night. I love watching storms during the day.

This is out the front door

This is out the back door.

The storm brings high winds which are dropping black walnuts onto the corrogated tin roof over our back bedroom. They sound like gunshots.

  1. Glad you are getting a much needed rain. We are wet here and it is still coming down.

  2. I love rain! Used to hate it, when I lived in Virginia where it rained all the time. But now that I live in the desert, it's a rare treasure. I love listening to the rain on the roof.

Not sure I'd like the "gunshot"-sounding black walnuts, though!

  3. Isn't it beautiful? Remember a few years ago when it rained over 30 days in a row?

  4. I walked the San Francisco Breast Cancer 3 Day in October, 2005. It was 90 on Thursday, somewhat cooler on Friday, raining by Saturday, and still raining when I left California on Tuesday. I think there was a lot of rain that year for y'all. Not great to walk in, but much needed.

Let's hope El Nino helps you make up for lost time without mudslides (they're inevitable though, aren't they?).
